Super Rod receives Queen's Award for Innovation
Blaenavon based Super Rod has been awarded the UK's most prestigious business accolade - the Queen's Award for Innovation, for their range of cable routing products
Awarded to businesses who can demonstrate substantial improvements in business performance and commercial success through innovative products and services, Super Rod are one of only a small number of companies who will receive this award in 2008.
Super Rod is well known in the industry for their unique range of cable routing products which every year save the electrical industry 9 million work hours and it is this innovation which has secured them the top honour in this year's awards.
Managing Director Malcolm Duncan said: "We are absolutely delighted to win the Queen's Award for Innovation which is a true mark of the way in which our product range has gone from strength to strength since its launch in 2000.
The feedback about our products that we receive from the industry has always been very positive, but by winning this award we know that we are really making a difference.
We currently estimate that over 70% of UK electricians now use a rod based system compared to almost zero in 2000.
This massive increase is down to the fact that our products really do save time - something which is important for today's electricians.
The fact that we also work closely with the industry to ensure that our products meet the demands of our customers means that every product we bring to market provides a simple answer to a problem.
The Cable Rod range has now become an integral part of the electrical contractor's toolkit and there is every indication that this will continue to go from strength to strength.
By winning this award not only are we showing that Super Rod really is an innovative company, we are also showing the industry that they can trust our products: and most of all, they can trust our company".
To mark their achievement, Malcolm Duncan from Super Rod attended a special reception on 22 April at Whitehall: the presentation of the actual award will take place later in the year at the factory base in Blaenavon.
