The SY005 batch weight controller from Synectic Design offers users a well proven design which has recently been updated due to continuous feedback from our customers and our regular product development The SY005 offers a selectable voltage of 110 or 230Vac and a new, more energy efficient power supply, obviously giving it an economic advantage

The relay control abilities make it the ideal choice for critical applications.

SY005 units are already being used in the food, chemical, concrete and agricultural industries.

The technology in the unit is also ideal for the pharmaceutical and petrochemical industries.

Companies currently using the SY005 include: Budweiser, Simmer Biscuits and Standard Soaps - making soaps for numerous household names, own brands for supermarkets and luxury brands such as Crabtree and Evelyn.

An SY005 has previously been modified to be a force controller for Airbus, as a device to relieve stress in the tensioning strings in aeroplane wings.

The new SY005 has an intelligent self learning feature to adapt to its load cell inputs and relay outputs.

Using its loss in weight dispensing system, the unit measures the actual weight of the previous delivery and compares it to the specified delivery, the next delivery is adjusted accordingly, and the measurements are continuously monitored to increase the output accuracy, to reduce the chance of overrun.

An automatic pause feature is included which will stop the unit if the hopper becomes empty mid cycle, allowing the hopper to be refilled and the batch continued; this reduces the amount of waste created.

The Synectic SY005 has an internal amplifier which feeds the input signal into an 18 bit ADC which runs at a speed of 16Hz.

The controller also has an accuracy of 0.006% over the full scale of operation.

These performance capabilities are far superior to the direct competition.

The SY005 has an easy to use fully numeric keypad and a clear 6 digit LED display, again unlike its competitors.

The unit is packaged in a 96mm square panel mounting, with a depth of just 124mm.

Competing batch control systems are provided in much deeper casings, but due to our development in unit packaging the SY005 allows for a much simpler installation.

Options available with the SY005 include: a serial interface to a printer or PC, a data logger - capable of storing up to 4096 batches and an analogue output - of fully scalable 4-20mA output proportional if the unit is to link to an external PLC system.

The unit has expansion facilities so it can be linked to other units, for example an SY033 display unit.

Synectic Design Ltd has been designing and manufacturing industrial process control and measurement instrumentation and systems since 1993, and are considered as leaders in the process electronics industry.
