Yorkshire oven specialist seals major Swiss order

West Yorkshire-based industrial oven and dryer specialist, Spooner Industries Ltd, has secured contracts worth UK PDS 3 million to supply a major Swiss manufacturer of paper converting machinery

West Yorkshire-based industrial oven and dryer specialist, Spooner Industries Ltd, has secured contracts worth UK PDS 3 million to supply a major Swiss manufacturer of paper converting machinery, Bachofen and Meier AG.

The company won the contracts after sales and marketing director for Spooner Industries, Steve Newell was invited to Subcon 2002 (an international trade fair held in Birmingham) by Trade Partners UK - the government organisation that provides support services for UK companies trading overseas.

The two companies met at a 'match-making meeting' organised by the Trade Partners UK team from the British Embassy in Berne.

This first meeting has since been followed up through various missions and visits to secure the contracts that were finalised early this year.

Mr Newell said, "The Trade Partners UK team from the British Embassy gave us the opportunity to meet a new customer from whom we have now received significant orders.

The connection with Bachofen and Meier is a lucrative one for us which we hope will continue".

Spooner Industries Ltd is based in Ilkley, West Yorkshire and specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of industrial driers, catering predominantly for the paper, metal and textiles industries.

The driers the company has provided to Bachofen, will be supplied in systems for the paper converting industry to end user customers in Scotland and Belgium.
