Ceramic membranes for separation and
filtration
Tami Industries, a manufacturer of ceramic membranes for separation/filtration of molecules in liquids, will show its Isoflux tubular membrane during the upcoming Food Processing Machinery Expo
Tami Industries, a manufacturer of ceramic membranes for separation/filtration of molecules in liquids, will be displaying its Isoflux tubular membrane during the upcoming Food Processing Machinery Expo in Chicago from November 7-10 Designed within the Inside Ceram TM tubular membrane line, the Isoflux solves the problem of non-uniform trans-membrane pressure within the membrane

This new membrane is used in sterilisation of milk and protein solutions, separation of casein/protein, sugars, gelatin, and extraction from fermentation broth.
The membrane's thickness decreases from the inlet to the outlet at a rate that is proportional to the fluid pressure along the membrane.
This creates constant permeability at each point along the membrane.

The resulting homogeneity of the flow allows for the mastering of the filtration process with an improvement of the extraction performance, and an identical fouling on the membrane's entire surface that facilitates chemical washing operations.
The tubular Isoflux membranes are available in one-inch diameter and in three versions with 8 (Daisy), 23 (Sunflower), or 39 (Dahlia) channels.
Industrial results on skimmed milk show that Isoflux is a very flexible membrane.
Process settings can be easily adjusted to the product to be filtrated and do not need complex and precise regulations.
The cleaning of the membrane is not different from that of a standard membrane.
No modification of the filtration loop is needed, and regular housings are used.
Overall, Isoflux reduces the costs of microfiltration operations.
Tami membranes are made with successive layers of decreasing particle size, which creates the structure of the membrane.
These are constructed out of such materials as pure Titanium oxide, or ATZ - Alumina, Titania and Zirconia oxide compounds.
The advantages to using the Tami ceramic membranes include improvement in cross-flow microfiltration, higher surface area per membrane, and lower operating costs.
Housings are compact, creating maximum area in a minimum volume.
USDA construction is also available.
For demanding applications, Tami Industries also offers the Filtanium line of membranes that are made with only highly pure titanium oxide and are well suited for life science applications with very high purity filtration (micro, ultra, and nano) requirements and excellent chemical stability.
Tami Industries filtration products are applicable to a wide range of industries, including the food and beverage industry (milk standardisation, whey concentration, casein separation, wine clarification), the bio-industry (lactic ferments, fermentative coupling), and many other (bio-technology, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, industrial water treatment, and metallurgy).
