Tyco - an AVID provider of the latest technology
A comprehensive integrated system of control accessories designed for hazardous area or general process applications, is provided by the state-of-the-art AVID range from Tyco Valves and Controls
Driven by exciting new discoveries in resin technology, Tyco Valves and Controls successfully developed the method for producing valve seats in TFM, a modified polytetrafluoroethylene, which exceeds by far the chemical, mechanical, physical and endurance properties of conventional PFA or PTFE lining materials.
The secret to TFM's success is its dense polymer structure - much denser than PTFE or PFA.
This results in extremely low permeability, ensuring suitability for use with highly corrosive substances.
The low permeability of TFM also promises a much longer life time during high cycle and control applications.
Conventional PTFE has a tendency to suffer from 'cold flow' when the material flows to areas where there is less mechanical compression, eventually causing the seal to fail.
A key advantage of TFM's dense polymer structure is that it is far less sensitive to cold flow or material deformation.
This ensures an extensive operating life span, even at high temperatures and pressures.
A conductive version of the Neotecha NeoSeal TFM seat is also available.
This is fully FDA compliant and can also be used in ATEX applications.
