The inclusion of Clarkson under the Tyco Valves and Controls brand means that the unique Clarkson C-Valve Slurry Throttling Valve is now available from the established Tyco worldwide network.

The valve produces a control system that maintains smooth control of aggressive slurries by maintaining a full bore at all times.

Unlike some other slurry throttling valves such as pinch valves, which do not provide any action until they are around 60% closed, the C-Valve begins to restrict flow immediately upon actuation, while maintaining a perfectly round concentric aperture across the full throttling range, allowing up to a 90% reduction in flow.

The C-Valve works by closing its moulded elastomer sleeve with a muscle-like action in compression, rather than tension.

This prevents the sleeve from being subject to the tear propagation which results from solid particles passing through the valves at high velocity.

Additionally, the absence of any metal parts in the flow path prevents corrosion of the valve.

To cope with a wide range of process conditions the C-Valve comes in sizes of 1'' through to 10'', while optional reduced-port sleeves are available to reduce the size of the orifice down to 3/16''.

These sleeves are inexpensive and easily installed, giving the user greater flexibility, and ensuring the C-Valve remains able to handle pressures of up to 100 psi.

The sleeves themselves are made from gum rubber, the best all-around elastomer as well as Chlorobutyl, EPDM, Neoprene, Viton, Nitrile, Hypalon and Urethane, which allow the C-Valve to handle temperatures of up to 400F.

The C-Valve is available along with a wide variety of other knife gate and slurry valves from the Tyco worldwide network of sales, service and distribution (SSD) centres, which bring the capability of a global company with the benefit of local support.

These local SSD centres ensure quick turnaround and on-time deliveries, as well as factory level knowledge at a field sales level, helping customers in valve selection, application and problem solving.
