The new compact, intelligent, electric Keystone Epi-2 actuator range incorporates as standard all the advanced variables needed to provide effective control in the largest and most complex plants

Tyco Valves and Controls can boast the most advanced and comprehensive range of actuators currently on the market With the addition of the Keystone Epi-2 range the company now offers an unrivalled choice of pneumatic, electric and hydraulic actuators for all the valves in its series

Incorporating features to ensure trouble free operation with long life expectancy, these actuators ensure high performance and smooth operation in all application duties.

The new compact, intelligent, electric Keystone Epi-2 actuator range incorporates as standard all the advanced variables needed to provide effective control in the largest and most complex plants.

It is available as a single-phase or three phase actuator for on-off and modulating quarter-turn valves, and is the most innovative actuator on the market with integrated technology, as well as being highly economical in power consumption, and light and easy to install.

Unlike modular actuators where additional features are added at a cost, Epi-2 includes as standard, a whole range of essential design features such as a universal motor with an Innovative Power Supply Module - that can simply be connected to the local power and will adapt to the available power rating.

The motor is S3 100% duty rated as standard, allowing on site conversion from on/off duty to modulating, if required.

The actuator also incorporates highly accurate and easily adjustable torque control; a contact-less 'Position Sensor' for valve position management; a variable speed control that enables the valve opening and closing speeds to be adjusted independently; and valve position detection with end of travel settings.

An interchangeable base plate and a separate terminal block ensure simple and safe connection to all valve types.

The compact design of the Epi-2 provides a perfectly balanced actuator, enabling easy connection to small valves, and minimises pipe work stress and loads to the valve shaft.

As well as being economical in its power consumption Epi-2 is also inexpensive to install due to the inherent flexibility it provides with regard to voltage, torque, speed and mounting variations, all contained in one compact package.

In addition to the standard features, operators have the option to incorporate the latest technological solutions for process control plants, via Field Network systems such as ProfiBus, Foundation FieldBus, AS Interface, DeviceNet and Lonworks.

Also where a Field Network is not installed the operators have the option to utilise Bluetooth wireless connectivity, which provides non-intrusive configuration and diagnostics between the actuator and a PDA or PC.

Epi-2 actuators are manufactured from die cast aluminium and feature cleverly designed, sintered, epicyclical internal gearing to ensure smooth and reliable operation.

The Epi-2 range comprises 6 models, for operating at torques of up to 2.000 Nm with an operation time from 8 to 400 seconds.

They can be supplied with a full range of high quality quarter turn Tyco valves to provide a pre-assembled and tested product ready for on-site installation.

All Tyco valves and actuators are manufactured in plants certified to ISO 9001 - 2000 and comply with the most stringent requirements of the European Directives and harmonized standards, including the Pressure Equipment Directive (97/23/EC PED) and ATEX 94/9/EC for potentially explosive atmospheres.
