Profibus UK has announced its latest schedule of training courses offered by the Profibus Competence Centre at Manchester Metropolitan University: * Certified Profibus Engineer DP - 4-7 Jul, 26-29 Sep, 21-24 Nov 05 (Also available on-site for up to 8 people)

* Certified Profibus Engineer Process Automation Module - 8 Jul, 30 Sep, 25 Nov 05.

DP Engineers wishing to build their careers around Profibus, companies wanting to benchmark their technical staff or consultants seeking a recognised professional qualification in industrial networking can now train for Certified Profibus Engineer status.

Then the Certified Profibus Engineer Process Automation Module is an Extra day for engineers that wish to extend their knowledge and accreditation to include Process Automation.

This must be booked in conjunction with Certified Profibus Engineer course (above).

The Certified Profibus Installer Course is an essential course for electrical engineers and technicians needing to upgrade their skills to include fieldbus installation.

This one-day, hands-on course teaches the design, installation and testing of complete Profibus networks including DP/FMS, PA and optical fibre technology.

Covering bus layout and termination, grounding rules and practices, the course will teach delegates how to avoid common, but potentially expensive, installation problems.

The Profibus Competence Centre at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) in the UK has introduced a new 2.5-day short course covering Open-PLC programming using the international standard IEC 61131-3.

The course is designed for Engineers and Technicians who want to gain a recognised qualification in open-PLC programming using IEC 61131-3.

No prior experience of PLC programming is necessary; however, the course is also equally well suited for experienced Programmers who wish to move to IEC 61131-3 compliant systems.

To register for any of the above events, trainers or potential trainees can register on line on the website.

Further opportunities to learn about Profibus are presented at the Profibus International Conference in June.

The Profibus International Conference at Coombe Abbey, Coventry, England on 21 and 22 June 2005 is an excellent opportunity to learn more about Profibus and Profinet.

Featuring a comprehensive educational programme covering latest developments in Profibus technology including Profinet, PROFIsafe, PROFIdrive and Profibus PA, the Conference will be supported by a free-of-charge exhibition, interactive displays and technology demonstrations from the UK Profibus Competence Centre (PCC) at Manchester Metropolitan University and leading product vendors, trainers, consultants and systems integrators.

The Programme will comprise 2 parallel sessions: hands-on Profibus Primers for relative newcomers and Master Classes for the more advanced users.

Presentation times will be carefully planned and controlled to allow delegates to switch between streams and individual presentations.

This two day event is a must for engineers, managers, applications, technical support and sales personnel involved in design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of factory and process automation components and systems.
