One of the papers to be presented at the Profibus and Profinet User Conference scheduled for 24/25 June in Stratford on Avon will cover Profibus DP and PA system design and layout
Associated with the conference, the Exhibition of relevant Profibus products is also staffed by applications specialists from major suppliers, able to provide advice on specific products.
Choosing to attend just the presentations specific to your industry will allow a further visit to the installation work-shops and exhibition, building into a comprehensive day answering the questions you may still have about Profibus and Profinet.
A particular presentation that is attracting significant interest is from Alan Bollard of Westermo, who will discuss the various radio techniques that can be used on ProfibusDP and Profinet systems.
The presentation will cover the use of low power radio (458 and 869Mhz) for both Profibus and Profinet and then consider how we could use wireless Ethernet (2.4GHz) solutions on Profinet systems: each has its benefits but also disadvantages.
Alan founded the UK subsidiary of Westermo, the Swedish data communications specialists, over 10 years ago, having worked in the field for a number of years following his electronics degree: his presentation will discuss the consideration that must be given to transmission power, antenna design, bandwidth and latency times for wireless systems in Profibus and Profinet data communications.
Alan Bollard will present his paper on wireless applications on the 27June: it will be followed by a discussion on the use of ASi-Safe systems, linking into ProfiSafe networks.
