Recent additions to the ARL line of instruments are testament to this enduring expertise.

The journey began in 1934 when Dr Maurice Hasler, who was fascinated by the capability of optical emission spectroscopy to produce, in minutes, chemical analysis that would normally take hours to perform by wet chemistry, borrowed a diffraction grating and built his own spectrograph.

Since the introduction of this spectrograph in 1934, the ARL range has seen a significant number of groundbreaking achievements.

Second ARL QuantoDesk - the smallest Thermo Electron CCD-based metals analyser: this flexible benchtop instrument is designed to provide quantitative as well as qualitative analysis for operation in harsh environments.

Third, the ARL Advant'x - a new model of the ARL Advant'x sequential XRF spectrometer series: compared to its predecessor, the power of the X-ray tube has been doubled to 1200W, which further improves limits of detection and precision.
