Thermo Electron Corporation announces the 5000th customer order of its ARL 3460 Optical Emission (OE) spectrometer.

The ARL 3460 has become a benchmark for metals analysis with customers regularly purchasing or upgrading to new models, a testament to their trust in the instrument quality and reliability.

Continued technological innovations and refinements have driven customer demand and the instrument longevity.

The landmark order, received from the Araucaria plant of Gerdau in Brazil, demonstrates the Thermo continued leadership of this market while remaining at the forefront of innovation.

The Gerdau Group is the largest producer of long steel in America, with mills in the United States, Brazil, Argentina, Canada and Uruguay.

The widely used ARL 3460 OE spectrometer was launched in 1982 and designed for fast and accurate metals analysis in primary plants, foundries, forges, mini-mills and casting mills.

At launch it revolutionised the way analyses were performed and for more than 20 years has provided metals customers with uncompromising development and expert design and manufacture, while keeping abreast of the latest technological improvements.

Thermo was recently presented with two Omega NorthFace ScoreBoard awards for excellence in customer service.

This award winning customer service coupled with expert technical support has also helped ensure that customers are able to adapt and exploit the ARL 3460 capabilities to their best advantage.

Dan Shine, vice president of Elemental Analysis for Thermo, says, "Our ARL 3460 OE spectrometer has enjoyed incredible success over many years due to the instrument ability to perform critical analyses for our customers involved in metal production and fabrication.

Each instrument is produced to meet specific needs by careful calibration in the factory before delivery.

We involve the user at every stage, including soliciting feedback for further improvements, and this customer-centric focus has contributed to the ARL 3460 long history of success into these markets.".
