Thermo Electron Corporation will showcase its purpose-built, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) LIMS and CDS solutions at Pittcon 2006 in Florida

Thermo Electron Corporation will showcase its purpose-built, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) LIMS and CDS solutions at Pittcon 2006 in Orlando, Florida.

"Visitors to the Thermo booth will find tailored informatics solutions, designed to meet specific industry and application requirements with the minimum amount of customisation," said Dave Champagne, vice president and general manager of the Thermo informatics business.

"Our value proposition is the reduction in cost, risk and time of implementations, as well as total cost of ownership, that are associated with extensive customisation.

Plus, the greatly enhanced integration between our solutions and the customers' enterprise yields increased efficiency and greater knowledge from data".

The Thermo Informatics exhibit will feature.

* Darwin LIMS the laboratory information management system designed specifically for pharmaceutical manufacturing R and D and QA/QC.

* The latest version of SampleManager LIMS, 9.0, which begins its evolution as a COTS solution for industrial laboratories.

* Atlas CDS 8.0, the renewed Thermo chromatography data system with superior integration with SampleManager and Darwin for maximum productivity.

* Migration Agent, a new software and professional services solution that reduces risk and overcomes business challenges when migrating from any existing LIMS to a Thermo LIMS.

* Retriever, a web-based data extraction, presentation and reporting solution that enables secure access to laboratory data, no matter the originating data system.

Thermo has had five informatics oral and poster presentations accepted by the Pittcon committee as part of the conference programme.

Topics include "Using LIMS to Drive Productivity in the Manufacturing Environment" and "LIMS Implementation Trends in Discovery Research".

In addition to its informatics solutions, Thermo will be exhibiting a wide range of industry leading instrumentation, software and services at Booth # 3733 from March 13-16 at the Orange County Convention Centre in Orlando, Florida.

Pittcon highlights include user-friendly and cost-effective turnkey solutions for the modern laboratory with an emphasis on easy implementation, performance and integration.
