Thermo demonstrates its leadership in COTS pharmaceutical and standardised petrochemical software solutions at AnalyticaChina 2006 in Shanghai this September

Thermo Electron Corporation, worldwide leader in analytical instrumentation and informatics, will be exhibiting its complete software solutions offering at AnalyticaChina 2006, China's largest trade show of products for the process and pharmaceutical sectors The Thermo comprehensive suite of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) LIMS, enterprise-wide LIMS and CDS solutions will be displayed at Booth W2.2402, September 19-21, at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Shanghai, China

Thermo will also give an academic presentation during the conference entitled "Pharmaceutical LIMS" that addresses the latest developments in purpose-built LIMS for the pharmaceutical industry.

Thermo develops and markets COTS software solutions to address the unique needs of the pharmaceutical industry, from drug discovery through to manufacturing.

These Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) have more of the required functionality built into their base software thereby reducing the costs and risks of implementation and validation associated with traditional laboratory data management systems.

With COTS solutions, global deployments are more consistent and rapid while system upgrades are simplified.

As the latest addition to the Thermo pharmaceutical LIMS offering, Darwin LIMS, is designed specifically for pharmaceutical manufacturing R and D and QA/QC and compliance with regulations set by the International Conference for Harmonisation.

Also on display is Watson LIMS, the industry standard LIMS for bioanalytical laboratories, which manages with out-of-the-box functionality the simple and complex clinical, pre-clinical and toxicokinetic studies, as well as data from complex bioanalytical processes.

Thermo continues to offer its flagship LIMS for enterprise-wide standardisation in the process industries such as chemical, petrochemical, mining, etc.

Version 9.0 of SampleManager LIMS, one of the most feature-rich LIMS in the market, has been re-engineered to use the Microsoft .NET framework, which expands the available pool of developers, while also enabling the continued use of VGL, which is the programming code used for the existing installed base.

SampleManager 9.0 also introduces an all-new, thoroughly modern user interface and enhanced functionality for specification checking and web result entry.

As a leading provider of chromatography data systems (CDS), Thermo is capable of integrating CDS with LIMS for increased productivity and greater knowledge from laboratory data.

Atlas CDS 8.1 is the latest Thermo solution offering superior integration with SampleManager and Darwin.

Dave Champagne, vice president and general manager of the Thermo informatics business, comments: "The Thermo exploitation of newer technologies using open standards gives us the agility to respond to the changing business needs of our customers, in addition to solving their legacy business plans and reducing total cost of ownership.

With a demonstration centre here in Shanghai, and local sales and services representatives, we are positioned to partner with leading businesses in China to fulfil critical informatics needs".

In addition to its informatics solutions, Thermo will be exhibiting a wide range of industry leading analytical instrumentation, software and services at AnalyticaChina 2006. Request free introductory details about products from Thermo Fisher Scientific (Informatics) ...
