Grimsby Institute welcomes Indonesian
visitors
The Grimsby Institute has enhanced their influence in food production and traceability after welcoming visitors from Indonesia to discuss possible collaborative projects in fish processing
The Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education has expanded influence in food production and traceability, after welcoming visitors from Indonesia to experience the Institute facilities and to discuss possible collaborative projects The delegation, consisting of fish processing exporters, visited the Institute in order to gain knowledge and experience about the market requirements and sales and trends in consumer preferences

They were also given the opportunity to match-make with European buyers and wholesalers.
During their stay, the group was taken on a tour of the Humber Institute of Food and Fisheries Training Centre, an industry leader for the professional training of food and fisheries operatives, situated on the commercial docks, as well as the tuna processing plant Seachill and shrimp processing plant Youngs Bluecrest, in addition to experiencing the local fish markets.
They also received a warm welcome to the area in a Civic Reception, held at Grimsby Town Hall, where they met with the Deputy Mayor and local councillors.
Vice Principal for Research and Enterprise at the Grimsby Institute, Dr Mike Dillon, said: "We're delighted to welcome our visitors to the Grimsby Institute.
We are proud to show them the town and the excellent facilities we have on offer here".
Following a meeting held at the Institute, a 'Letter of Intent' was signed by Dr Mike Dillon and Dr Maimun, Director of Fisheries University in Jakarta, to ensure future co-operation between the two institutions, on the development of training in the application of traceability and on improving monitoring and control systems.
Dr Maimun, said: "We all highly appreciate the Grimsby Institute hospitality, it has been an extremely interesting and worthwhile visit.
I have been very impressed by what I've seen here in terms of the systems and how the technology is put into practice, especially at HIFF.
The collaborative projects we have discussed are of great importance, it's an honour to work with such an influential and inspiring Institute".
Dr Dillon, added, "Here at the Institute we recognise the importance of working together and sharing skills and ideas, which is why we are continuously building relations both abroad and in the UK.
We look forward to our relationship with the Indonesian Fisheries University progressing and the opportunities this will bring".
