Thermo Fisher launches high-speed checkweigher

Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced the launch of the Versa 8120, a checkweigher for high-speed weighing applications in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and consumer goods industries.

Suitable for cartons, cans, bottles and pouches in dry or wet environments, the Versa 8120 can handle weighing, control and reject functions at line speeds up to 700 packages per minute, depending on the application.

The rugged chain design of the checkweigher makes it easy to clean and maintain.

In addition, the simplified design and minimal number of moving parts in the frame reduces vibration, allowing for weighing accuracy.

The Versa 8120 is available in a stand-alone pedestal version or with a standard, integrated conveyor.

It incorporates state-of-the-art electronics and is the latest model in the next-generation Thermo Scientific Versa checkweigher family.

Conversion kits are also available for customers seeking to upgrade controllers in existing 8120 frames in good condition (formerly sold under the Ramsey brand name).

The Versa 8120 controller, based on the Microsoft Windows XP operating system, includes a simple, easy-to-read colour touch-screen interface.

The checkweigher can be automatically set up and configured for controlled access, ensuring complete security and data integrity.

Offered as an option for increased functionality, the Versa 8120's in-feed conveyor can be fitted with peripheral equipment such as a helix system for cans.

Also, an optional Thermo Scientific Apex metal detector provides a complete weight control and contaminant inspection station.
