Announcing the Industrial Networks for Fieldbus and Open Systems 2005 workshop programme, part of Mtec - sensors, measurement and instrumentation exhibition, returns to the NEC 16-17th February 2005

Industrial Networks for Fieldbus and Open Systems, part of the Mtec - sensors, measurement and instrumentation exhibition, returns to the NEC on 16th and 17th February 2005, and Industrial Networks are pleased to announce that the Profibus Group, AS-Interface UK and the ISA (England Section) have announced their programme for free workshops to be held within the Industrial Networks Technology Centre The Profibus Group will present one of its popular Profibus Primers, through a seminar 'On Fault-Finding and Diagnostics of the Profibus Network'

Protocol analysers, oscilloscope measurements and sophisticated techniques, as well as latest developments on fault finding and diagnostics of the Profibus network are explored, explained and presented by the team from The Profibus Competence Centre at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Headed up by Andy Verwer, Principal Lecturer, it will be a very practical session supported by a "hands on" demonstration'.

The ASi Expert Alliance will hold a workshop entitled 'Powerful, versatile networking at the device level'.

Members of the alliance will present five papers covering the many areas where ASi technology can be the most effective networking solution available.

It will focus on real applications and the benefits being delivered by ASi today, and deal with subjects such as Machine Safety, Systems Integration, Process Control and its close relationships with fieldbusses and Ethernet.

Delegates will also be able to learn about the Expert Alliance and how it can help them.

The ISA (England Section) will support the event with a set of presentations on the 'challenges in collecting, collating and presenting data from wide spread and disparate sources'.

The ISA England Section will provide at least four leading speakers and complete the session with a Forum.

The sessions will be particularly useful to senior management who want to get a feel for the scope of the challenges and where to start looking for solutions.

Engineers involved in one or more aspects of the range of issues will also find the sessions useful for detail and the interface with other issues.

The programme of workshops at the 2004 were very successful for all involved, "The Profibus Group benefited from a well-attended seminar plus a steady flow of qualified visitors to the stand" said Bob Squirrell, of The Profibus Group, "and it is expected that those for 2005 will be just as popular".

Mtec is the UK's only show dedicated wholly to sensors, measurement and instrumentation, and Industrial Networks is a dedicated section of the event where visitors can compare and evaluate proprietary systems, open systems and the industrial use of Ethernet.

This focus within the event has proved to be a big benefit to both visitors and exhibitors.

In 2004, over 550 companies were represented, giving visitors a unique opportunity to see a complete range of sensors and related products under one roof and to discuss their requirements with knowledgeable industry experts.

Mtec and Industrial Networks are co-located with 8 other specialist industry events including Machine Building and Automation, IPOT - Image Processing and Optical Technology and new for 2005 PneuMotion - Air at Work dedicated to the pneumatics and compressed air industry.
