The Trident Exhibitions successful cluster of eight tightly focussed industry events return to Halls 11 and 12 of the NEC, Birmingham the 15th and 16th February 2006.

These February shows attracted more than 6,600 visitors in 2005 and are the industry's first opportunity in the year to savour what's new and emerging.

* MTEC - Sensors, measurement and instrumentation, featuring Industrial Networks for Fieldbus and Open Systems, is the UK national showcase for sensors and systems - the event with long-term continuity of name, venue, date and focus.

The sensor, measurement and instrumentation industry thrives on technological innovation and is developing very rapidly.

It is vital for users to stay abreast of the latest product developments and therefore MTEC 2006 provides the solution: when surveyed 88% of visitors to the 2005 show stated they had been successful in sourcing a new supplier at the event.

Adding to the visitor experience will be a free programme of workshops held by the British Society for Strain Measurement (BSSM) and the DTI Sensing Forum.

'Industrial Networks' is a dedicated section of the MTEC event where visitors can compare and evaluate proprietary systems, open systems and the industrial use of Ethernet and will benefit from free seminars being given by the Profibus Group, the Asi Expert Alliance and the Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society (ISA).

* Machine Building and Automation is the leading UK exhibition addressing all aspects of machine building, automation and design.

The event brings together component suppliers, subsystem suppliers and manufacturers of complete "turnkey" systems for two days of selling, networking, and exchanging ideas.

In addition to complete "turnkey" systems manufacturers Machine Building brings together the complete spectrum of component and subsystem suppliers.

The 2006 event will also feature a BARA supported Robotics Demonstration area showcasing working industrial robots in a "live" environment.

PneuMotion - Air At Work represents a crucial element of the Machine Building exhibition - Pneumatic Components and Systems - and features exhibitors from the compressed air industry.

This is supported by the British Compressed Air Society, who will be holding a free programme of workshops over the two days.

The latest addition to the Trident portfolio is Drives and Motion Control Systems.

Exhibitors at the event will include manufacturers, agents and distributors showing products and services from industries involved with bearings, belts and chains, brakes, clutches and couplings, cables and cable management, displays and interfaces, EMC equipment, enclosures, gears drives and variators, hydraulic, pumps and motors, hydraulic valves and actuators, industrial electric drives and motors, linear and rotary stages, linear motors, machine safety, motion control, motion control protection, numerical control, PCs and industrial software, pneumatic motors and cylinders, pneumatic valves, power electronics, programmable controllers, repairs and maintenance, SCADA, sensors, small precision drives and motors, test and measurement together.

* IPOT imaging, photonics and optical technology, machine vision and displays technology offer visitors a complete optical, photonics and vision event and feature a wide range of companies involved with image capture, image processing, image compression hardware and software, imaging systems, and intensifiers, image display, image output, image storage, general purpose industrial vision systems, special purpose industrial vision systems, cameras specially designed for machine vision, components for vision systems, displays, components and systems and lighting systems.

This is supported by the Photonics Cluster and the UKIVA who will be holding workshops and seminars over the two days.

The 2006 will see the introduction of a new Laser Centre supported by The Association of Industrial Laser Users (AILU).

The new Laser Centre will be a dedicated area within IPOT with companies featured involved in all aspects of lasers including the research activities and initiatives currently being worked in the UK and Europe.

Since its launch in 1999 Practical Vacuum and Semiconductor Processing, has become the 'must-see' event for all aspects of vacuum technology and semiconductor processing.

The event consistently attracts a high calibre audience wishing to buy or specify products and services from a range of companies involved with analysis and inspection, applied surface science, coatings and thin film, communications, cryogenics, cvd, deposition sputtering, electronics, electronics materials and processing, etching and resist stripping, furnaces, gas monitoring, handling and inspection, industrial and chemical processes, lithography equipment and photoresists, magnetic data storage, mask making, microelectronics, microscopy, nanometer science and technology, plasma, science and techniques, process gas, pure water supply, scientific instrumentation, semiconductors, vacuum metallurgy, wafer manufacture and wet chemical cleaning and processing.

As part of the Trident on-going research to discover how the shows were received and to help develop in the future, questionnaires were sent out to all visitors who attended the 2005 shows and produced some notable results: 66% of visitors who responded stated they were looking for new suppliers, with 84% of these visitors stating they had been successful in doing so at the event.

79% of visitors who responded said they were looking for new products, with 80% of these visitors stating they had been successful in doing so at the event.

More than half of the visitors who responded said they used the exhibition to meet existing suppliers, and more than 40% used the exhibition to see and compare several suppliers and products at once.

Held alongside Octo Media MDT - Medical Device Technology and 3C - Contamination, Control and Cleanroom Products these shows offer the visitor a truly economical and time-efficient day away from the office! The exhibitions are open from 10am - 5pm on day 1 and 10am - 4pm on day 2.

Entrance to all exhibitions is free and registering for one will allow you unimpeded access to all the co-located shows.
