Houston based Titan Technologies, a fast growing specialist bolting technologies company with global representation, offering a 'one stop engineered solutions to bolting problems', will have its range on display at Offshore Europe 2007 in Aberdeen.

With the launch of a new and radically innovative range of hydraulic bolt Tensioner tools, Titan has set a new and unrivalled performance benchmark.

The need to maximise cost effectiveness of maintenance schedules and new build projects is fundamental in the provision of cost effective solutions to the oil and gas industries, and other heavy industries.

Hydraulic bolt tensioning is now accepted as the preferred method of bolt tightening to achieve the high levels of first time leak free joint integrity demanded.

Through providing optimum tool design and performance Titan helps ensure these expectations are fully met.

Titan spent two full years in extensive design, development and field testing to achieve the significant improvement in hydraulic bolt Tensioner performance desired.

The result of this successful development programme is a new tool sealing system that focused on minimising effort to retract the piston between cycles and eliminate leakage of oil past the seal.

Typically, Tensioners that were easy to retract leak: Tensioners that didn't leak were difficult to manually retract.

To overcome these serious shortcomings competitive tools have employed costly, bulky and heavy piston retraction mechanisms.

The new Titan seal achieves the perfect balance of physical properties to achieve the holy-grail of easy retraction without leakage.

This is no small achievement because Titans tools operate at pressures up to 2,500 bar (36,750 psi)!.

The new seals are a two-piece self-energising design with an 'O' ring machined from a special composite material that is self-lubricating with very high wear resistance.

These seals simply click in to position and require no adjustment.

Also, with no leakage the tools provide a consistently more accurate and uniform operating pressure.

This translates in to faster performance and less downtime with more accurate and uniform bolt loads being achieved.

The ability to quickly manually retract the piston on the new Titan tools produces amazing results when compared to previous generation Tensioners and those currently offered by competitive tools.

Hydraulic bolt Tensioner tools are commonly used in significant numbers, therefore, time and cost savings achieved through easy piston retraction are impressive.

When combined with the smaller dimensions of the Titan tools a less costly solution is offered than tools fitted with mechanical retraction mechanisms.

The whole bolt tensioning procedure can now be carried out in significantly less time and with less material cost and all the while achieving the most accurate and uniform bolt loads possible.

Titan Technologies, manufacture their new seal design to suit any Tensioner piston size and pressure area enabling custom built Tensioner tools to meet exact application requirements.

Also, seals that match any pressure area enable Titan Tensioner tools to be used alongside customers existing tooling.

Additionally Titan will refurbish 3rd party tools, fitting them with the new generation piston and seals, thereby enhancing their performance.

This enables a customer to upgrade at minimal investment, providing a compatible and more cost-effective solution.

Titan Bolt Tensioning Tools are available in both metric and imperial sizes and can be manufactured to suit any bolt size in pressure ranges of up to 1000 Bar, 1500 Bar, 2000 Bar and 2500 Bar.

Safety is a priority feature for all Titan equipment, employing simple colour coding to match tools and hoses to their maximum working pressure.

Furthermore, the tools meet the essential safety requirements of major industries worldwide.

For efficiency and safety, each tool features an ample 15 mm stroke and just as importantly, each tool has a red piston stroke indicator which is highly visible when a tool has reached its safe design stroke limit.

In the event that the stroke is exceeded, oil is safely vented into the centre of the tool preventing any further extension of the piston.

All relevant quality approvals are in place with testing of critical components and tools being conducted before, during and after assembly.

Titan Technologies, is a leader in the design, manufacture and supply of all forms of bolt tightening and removal tooling to most industries around the world.
