Monitoring valuable liquid dispensing
An innovative engineering firm in Dorset has perfected a monitor for beer flow that combines a low-cost pints totaliser with sophisticated security features to detect tampering.
Titan Enterprises has supplied its MkII totaliser to the Scarisbrick Hotel in Southport, and several similar hotels where large functions are a significant part of normal business, to monitor the total number of pints delivered in the bars, on each session The units, mounted in the main beer delivery lines, have an integral display of flow total, and are installed using standard John Guest 0.375in push-on fittings

The FT2 flowmeter system from Titan Enterprises gives the OEM or machine builder the ultimate in connection flexibility, in a low cost corrosion resistant flowmeter body
The Titan turbine meter monitors flow rates within the range 0.5 to 10 litre/min, and is accurate to better than 1.5% of flow.
The four-digit LED display shows pints delivered, from 000.0 to 999.9, measured from the initial zeroing, which is set at the start of bar service, using the manager's handheld key-fob.
Any tampering with the device, such as interruption of the power supply, is detected and shown by a flashing display on the sensor affected: the total still measures and records flow registered, but the flashing display can only be corrected by using the manager's key-fob.
All electronics are fully encapsulated to avoid immersion damage.
The PVDF body is totally hygienic, and the turbine, mounted on sapphire bearings, has its flow rotation detected using magnets within the rotor itself, monitored externally using non-wetted Hall effect sensors.
Titan Enterprises supplies many different styles of plastic flowmeter for vending applications, to monitor and totalise the delivered flow, but the security features in the Titan Mark II unit make it particularly applicable for simple monitoring of supplied totals in Hotel bar service applications.
