TLV pump prevents heat exchanger stall

A TLV product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Oct 12, 2009

TLV Euro Engineering has introduced the Powertrap GT5S - a stainless-steel version of its compact GT5C mechanical pump and steam trap.

It is designed for small, steam-using equipment in food and beverage, pharmaceutical and laboratory applications or for equipment where water hammer can be a problem.

Like the GT5C, the unit automatically discharges condensate when pressure inside the process equipment is high, or purges condensate using steam as a motive medium, when pressure is low.

The GT5 Powertrap range prevents heat exchanger stall caused when process steam pressure drops below system back pressure, providing stable temperature control, preventing water hammer and reducing maintenance costs caused by damage or corroded tube bundles.

The units also provide effective condensate recovery; reduce boiler fuel and water treatment costs as a result of energy and water recovery; and reduce effluent treatment and disposal costs.

Other features of the compact design include: a low 155mm filling head that allows installation in areas where space is limited; easy maintenance as the inlet/outlet check valves and motive medium intake valve can be removed and the body disassembled, while connected to the pipes; simple linear inlet/outlet pipework for easy and quick installation and replacement; intrinsically safe design; and can handle high-temperature condensate without cavitation.
