t-mac launches new wireless technology
at MAINTEC
New wireless technology has been launched at MAINTEC: a GPRS enabled monitoring and control system, which monitors and controls critical assets via the Internet, has added wireless capabilities
t-mac Technologies, the energy management business behind the t-mac device - a GPRS enabled monitoring and control system, which monitors and controls critical assets via the Internet - has developed Wireless Sensor Technology (WiST) following increasing market demand and the business need for 'wireless' control WiST wirelessly connects with advanced monitoring and control devices such as t-mac, off-the-shelf sensors and traditional building management systems, offering significant benefits, such as:

The latest asset management devices go one step further: they offer business the opportunity for remote asset management, monitoring and control, and use GPRS and the Internet to make them independent
Reap the benefits of automatic monitoring
Automatic monitoring and targeting (aM+T) equipment offers an all-round approach to energy management as it can remotely monitor, record and analyse all aspects of plant and equipment energy use
* wireless installation with no physical disruption.
* cost effective portal for monitoring, protecting and controlling assets.
* the ability to install the device and a variety of sensors anywhere in a building.
* a low-power communications network, which means it will operate in an industrial environment for years on a single battery.
Lisa Wilkinson, Director at t-mac Technologies, said: "Technology for the maintenance and asset management industry is constantly developing and evolving.
Going wireless and creating solutions for easier installation for monitoring devices like the t-mac system is the next logical step.
Adding WiST technology to t-mac enables businesses to monitor and control building infrastructures; sensors; systems; assets and machinery all via the Internet without the pre-requisite for extensive wiring, cabling and installation costs".
WiST operates via wireless sensors which continually monitor functions critical to each assets condition and efficiency.
It does this through recording a combination of measurements such as vibration, temperature, lux levels and power quality.
Information is then transmitted wirelessly from multiple sites and equipment to a central managed server for user viewing, analysis and reporting.
WiST is based on the Zigbee Mesh networking protocol.
The t-mac range is also fully MODBUS compatible enabling direct integration to an onboard embedded controller.
Editor's Note: t-mac say that their system has secured a place on the Carbon Trust's Energy Technology List allowing companies to apply for 100% capital allowance on their first year of investment in such energy monitoring equipment.
