Tomoe, a leader in the development of butterfly valves and actuators, has announced the appointment of Willie Duncan as the new managing director of the Tomoe Group in Europe

Tomoe, a leader in the development of butterfly valves and actuators, has announced the appointment of Willie Duncan as the new managing director of the Tomoe Group in Europe, based at the company European headquarters in Newport, South Wales, UK.

Commenting on his new position, Duncan said, "In 2005 we achieved the best ever year in terms of sales growth, running at 30% up on the previous year.

We start 2006 with a strong order book, one of the industry's most extensive valve product portfolios and a first class reputation in customer service and product delivery.

With exciting new products in development due for release in the second half of the year, and increased manufacturing capacity, we are well positioned to penetrate new markets and realize the company's aggressive growth strategy".

With over 20 years experience in the valve industry, Duncan joined Tomoe in 2004 as Sales and Marketing Director, responsible for business across Europe, the USA, the Middle East and Africa.

During the past two years he has built a stronger sales and marketing operation and positioned Tomoe as one of the major companies in the European Valve Industry.

Other changes happening at board level include the retirement of Ian Garnish as Group chairman.

Garnish was instrumental in establishing the initial joint venture between Tomoe and Saunders Valve in 1986, and also founded Tomoe Tritec in 1997.

Willie Duncan replaces previous managing director Martin Wells who has left the company to pursue other interests.

As part of these board changes, Allan Watkins, previously Quality Director at Tomoe Tritec, is appointed to the new position of Director of Business Processes.
