Tomoe Valve, a global leader in the design and manufacturing of valves and process control systems, says the recently extended G Series actuator range uses 30% lower air consumption

On a torque for torque comparison, the claim is based on the G Series actuator using 30% lower air consumption than its rack and pinion equivalent, making it a 'green' solution for the industry "It is becoming increasingly important for the industry to do all that is possible to be environmentally friendly," said Willie Duncan, managing director, Tomoe Valve: "By using less air consumption, and therefore less energy, this extended range of actuators goes some way in helping our customers to maintain a 'greener' factory"

The G Series actuator range now has 15 double acting and 15 spring return models and covers the Tomoe valve range from DN400 - DN600.

Full traceability is offered with each actuator, and a wide range of options are available including a stainless steel bodied actuator as well as a full range of other protective coatings.

The extended range of Tomoe actuators incorporates the unique Scotch Yoke design, utilising a 5 degree offset.

This design enables the maximum torque to be delivered from the valve seat at closed position.

The first 5 degrees of break-out movement is crucial to an efficient disc separation from the seat and the 5 degree asymmetric operation maximises its efficiency.

The extremely high torque output also results in smaller envelope dimensions for no loss in torque output.

The asymmetric torque curve of the G Series range adheres to the stringent requirements of the Tomoe butterfly valve, where the maximum torque is required, at the seat break-in and break-out positions, making the G series ideal for butterfly valves and providing the most efficient actuation valve range.

Common problems such as O rings sticking and rolling when used as piston seals are eliminated with the G Series, because the piston seals are PTFE and have an internal cylinder surface finish which provides an ultra low friction factor between the cylinder and the pistons.

There are 15 double acting models and 15 spring return models, this extensive range means that DN40-DN600 butterfly valves can be actuated with the G Series actuator range.
