Rail systems control company Transmitton has taken on a new Projects Director, Jason Wassermann, who has an impressive track record spanning 14 years management experience in the UK rail industry

Rail systems control company Transmitton has taken on a new Projects Director with an impressive track record spanning 14 years management experience in the UK rail industry Jason Wassermann's last role was Director of Resource Management at Carillion Transport, where he instigated and then led a GBP1m investment project to deliver enhanced project management tools and significant operational savings

Prior to this he directed a team working with Network Rail on a GBP200 million-plus maintenance and renewal contract covering 1100 miles of railway infrastructure in the Northwest.

As Director of Contracts at Carillion, he also managed around 1,000 staff - 95% of whom held safety critical posts.

One of his many achievements in this role was to deliver a 50% increase in turnover while improving overall service levels.

Transmitton Managing Director Ian Wright said: "We are delighted that Jason has joined the project team at Transmitton, not least because he has wide experience of managing rail organisations through significant change.

In his previous positions he has been able to bring a customer and delivery-focused approach to business units that had historically been technically led - a great skill in our highly competitive industry and one that will be very useful to us." Jason's started as a management trainee in the rail industry in 1990 and became a resident engineer in 1993 with British Rail, handling track renewal on the Chiltern line.

He continued in various roles with British Rail until he joined Carillion Rail (formerly GTRM) in November 1996 as Production Manager.

He takes up his post at Transmitton in its 32nd year in business.

Started in 1972, it became a world leader in the supply of safety critical control equipment to the mining industry and is now one of the UK's largest control systems suppliers.

Recent key rail contracts include: Jubilee Line extension, Southern Region Power Supply Upgrade, East Coast Mainline, Docklands Light Railway, Southern North Sea and Beijing Metro.
