Extension to Docklands Light Railway equipment
Transmitton upgrades and extends operational control facilities for the Docklands Light Railway equipment to support the extension to London City Airport
It replaces cathode ray tube displays and the obsolete 15 year old passenger information control system with a new PC based control system driving new LED and TFT screens.
Using the Transmitton proven cromos software, on PCs running Microsoft Windows XP Professional and already in use worldwide, the system is designed to allow Real Time Passenger Information Systems for the other island stations to be rolled out easily at a later date.
There is also considerable potential to enhance the system, for example, providing automated PA announcements and allowing for customer information systems to be synchronised, using the same technology deployed in the Transmitton Real Time Passenger Information System for London St Pancras station.
There is also scope for long line public address using VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and control/remote diagnostics of all island stations via VPN (Virtual Private Network) broadband internet.
Island Line, part of Stagecoach, runs well-maintained 1938 London Underground stock on the island's eight and a half mile track.
