Trend tops Manufacturing Excellence (MX) Awards
The Judges said Trend "stood out head and shoulders above all the others" when awarding Trend Control Systems as the Overall Winner of the prestigious 2007 Manufacturing Excellence (MX) Awards
Trend Control Systems, the Building Management Systems manufacturer, showed "an outstanding record in product innovation, process innovation, customer focus and business development", said the judges' summary.
Trend manufactures intelligent building controls, making others more efficient in their use of resources and providing a splendid example itself of how to build product flexibility into its systems".
The MX Awards are the premier awards for the UK manufacturing industry, presented by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and sponsored by the DTI Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS).
In addition to overall winner, Trend won the Warwick Manufacturing Group Award for Logistics and Resource Efficiency.
The overall winner award was presented to Trend by Margaret Hodge MP, Minister of State for Industry and the Regions at the Department for Trade and Industry.
The award recognises the winner's abilities in several categories that add up to overall competitiveness in world markets.
Trend was judged ahead of hundreds of the leading UK firms in the manufacturing and business world to win the top trophy, sponsored by the DTI Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS).
Margaret Hodge observed, "The future of manufacturing depends on industry raising investment, applying science and innovation, best practice and skills to create even better British products that comply with world demand in today's markets.
The MX Awards show it can be done".

For a quarter of a century, the Manufacturing Excellence Awards have been acknowledged as rewarding excellence and best practice in UK manufacturing.
In being judged overall winner, Trend joins some of the best-known companies in UK industry, such as Rolls-Royce, Jaguar Cars, Westland Helicopters, Dunlop Slazenger, STC Telecommunications, IBM (UK), British Steel, GEC Alsthom Large Machines and Strix.
