TTE prepares Cogent apprentices for oil industry
TTE continues to deliver quality training for the Sector Skills Council to the oil and gas extraction industry, Cogent, with the completion of off-site learning for its latest cohort of apprentices
The operators all have many years of experience in their field, but completing the NVQ Level 2 qualifications in 'Process and Instrumentation' has given them the springboard to go onto further NVQ training.
An equally important part of the eQ8-funded training is the validation of the quality of their skills through nationally recognised qualifications.
TTE was selected by Business Link County Durham to deliver the training because of its excellent track record and reputation for high quality industrial technical training.

eQ8, which is funded by the Learning and Skills Council, provides subsidised training for businesses that want to train their employers up to NVQ Level 2 standard.
In addition to wage compensation, which is provided to reimburse firms for the cost of releasing employees during normal working hours, eQ8 also allows for training to be delivered in the workplace to prevent disruption to the day to day work of the business.
Four operators, Michael Moss, John Graydon, Sam Robinson and Alan Smith worked towards the process qualification.
Tony-Guy Fisher completed the instrumentation NVQ.
All five of the operators are involved in the support processes at the Filtronic plant providing ultra-pure water, which is used to mix with chemicals.
The operators also look after the air-conditioning systems for the high technology clean rooms where semi-conductors and radio frequency products are both developed and manufactured.
One hundred times cleaner than an operating theatre, the clean rooms are devoid of even the smallest airborne particles.
The operators also control, monitor and test discharge levels from the plant into the atmosphere and the River Skerne as part of the Filtronic commitment to the local community and the protection of our environment.
Darren Race from Filtronic said: "We operate a very highly talented workforce, many of whom have developed their skills during long careers.
The eQ8 funded training provided by TTE has helped us to further validate those skills and also provide our technicians with the opportunity to go on to further NVQ learning.
The TTE training delivery was very professional and helped our technicians better relate the content of the NVQs to their duties at the plant".
Tony Scott, TTE Training Advisor, said: "eQ8 is an important pilot because it allows more businesses to gain access to workplace assessment.
Raising the skill levels of this region is vital if the North East is to remain competitive and close the burgeoning skills gap.
Training and assessment providers like TTE are perfectly placed to support the development of staff working in industry and, with the aid of eQ8 funding, firms can provide their employees with new learning opportunities".
