Process engineering apprenticeships for unemployed
The TTE Technical Training Group has entered into an alliance with TNG, NEPIC and Jobcentre Plus to deliver new skills and job opportunities to unemployed people from the Tees Valley.
Upon completion of the 15-week training programme, 12 trainees will take up positions with NEPIC (North East Process Industry Cluster) member companies across the Tees Valley.
This programme provides long-term unemployed people with an opportunity to get back into employment.
The programme, funded by Jobcentre Plus, the Learning and Skills Council and local companies, was conceived jointly by Jobcentre Plus and NEPIC as part of its ongoing campaign to address the skills shortage in the North East process industry.
TNG, a national broker for Jobcentre Plus, with offices nationally and throughout the Tees Valley, provides training and employment opportunities for New Deal clients who have not found a job after 16 weeks on the scheme.
Following a series of awareness days to gauge interest and suitability of candidates, TNG selected the individuals to take part in the programme.
The TTE Technical Training Group has been engaged by TNG to deliver the programme from its commercial base on the Wilton International site.
TTE provides technical training in the UK, delivering a portfolio of technical apprenticeships and up-skilling programmes for new and existing industry employees.
During the programme, the trainees, who are from Middlesbrough, Redcar, Darlington, Hartlepool and Stockton, will achieve City and Guilds and IOSH qualifications directly relevant to the needs of the process industry.
