Cake producer repeats order for process equipment

Turbo takes another trip down memory lane.
Turbo Systems, the market-leading specialists in the design and manufacture of equipment for the food industry, have just received a repeat order from one of the country's top cakes producers.
Cardiff-based Memory Lane Cakes purchased four of Turbo Systems D150 depositors, two of which were servo driven, a twin-lane conveyor and two batter pumps.
Equipment that has proved so successful that the company currently has a second system on order and is finalising on yet another agreement.
The equipment is processing a range of Traybake products including chocolate cake bases topped with chocolate buttercream and decorative sprinkles, and plain cake bases with lemon and sweetie toppings, all of which find their way on to the shelves of all the leading UK retailers - with all of them sold under 'own-brand' labelling.
Memory Lane's development director, Dave Moreton, puts it all down quite simply to partnership working.
''We have established a good relationship with Turbo Systems,'' he said.
''And subject to Turbo delivering on our next big project, we intend to continue working in tandem with them to develop our processing plants.'' Memory Lane Cakes, part of the Finsbury Food Group, is just as much a success story as Turbo Systems, thanks in both cases to enterprising and enlightened management.
The cake company's sales now top GBP50m a year while over at Hull-based Turbo Systems, order books are bulging.
The spate of orders is due in no small part to the quality of its products such as the D150 depositors which form the basis of Memory Lane's orders.
They allow them to spread buttercream on to tray bake bases quickly and efficiently and then deposit a perimeter ring of the cream into the same foil.
Which as far as Turbo Systems area sales manager, Richard Sutton, is concerned is no surprise at all.
''The D150 series forms part of our new generation of cost-effective machines which have been developed out of proven earlier models.
They have been developed and technologically improved to be among the best in the field for depositing and filling liquids, creams, semi-solids and particulated products.'' Available with modern lubricant free pneumatics or electro-pneumatic controls, the D150 can be tailored to meet individual customers requirements and is suitable for a wide range of applications.
As far as the repeat business from Memory Lane Cakes is concerned, Mr Sutton had this to say: ''We do have a very good working relationship with Memory Lane, and like to think the same is true of all our customers.
In the case of Memory Lane we are always prepared to work with them on fine-tuning our machines to meet precisely their needs.'' Turbo Systems is working closely with industry leaders in all sectors of the food industry such as ready meals, bakery, dairy, soups and snacks, and is expanding its product range into new market sectors such as the household and the automotive industry.
Turbo Systems is the world's leading manufacturer of filling and depositing machinery.
Its equipment is in use throughout the world and is used for a variety of applications including liquids, semi-solids, particles, powders and granules.
The company is involved in a large number of process markets including food, beverages, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, pet products and even automotives.
Products offered include volumetric depositors, transfer and metering pumps for liquids, semi-solids and viscous and aerated products.
Suitable for numerous applications including dairies, bakeries, ready-meals, jam, skin care products and sand, to name but a few.
