A celebration of the successes achieved in the water and allied industries will be the focus of attention of the re-styled IWEX Gala Evening, to be held on Wednesday 12th November, in the elegant surroundings of the Imperial Suite of the National Motorcycle Museum, close to the NEC.
Upon arrival, guests will enjoy a reception and dinner as part of an evening of superb entertainment, the highlight of which will be the presentation of seven innovation awards.
The Awards will cover specific categories relative to all aspects of operations, marketing and management within both the water and other utility sectors.
For 2003 they have been re-structured to reflect the changing profile of the industry, in particular including an emphasis on both multi-utility focused businesses and the international scope of many companies.
The existing and newly created awards will recognise achievements in the fields of "Best Distribution Hardware", which in 2001 was won by Robin Ductile Welding for their Hydro 2 disk valve fire hydrant, "Most Effective Monitoring and Control System" previously awarded to Severn Trent Services for their Eclox water testing kit and "Innovative Processes Technology" (2001 winner was Biothane Systems for their Bioped MP wastewater treatment plant.
The new awards are "Contributions to Environment and Sustainability", "International Markets" and "Most Innovative and Effective Multi-Utility Service".
A special seventh award will be presented to an "Outstanding Individual" in recognition of their service to the industry.
Under the chairmanship of Phil Alsop, Editor of Wet News and Water Services, a judging panel drawn from the IWEX steering committee will adjudicate the awards.
The panel, bringing a wealth of experience in the water and utility industries, comprises David Neil-Gallacher of British Water, David Hellier of the GWINTO, Tom Stephenson of Cranfield University, Carol Hickman of the SBWWI, Paul Reiter of the IWA, Nick Reeves of the CIWEM, Simon Doggett of Defra and Richard Hardiman of Trade Partners UK.
Speaking for Turret RAI, the organisers of IWEX, Rob Lozowski said, "It is our intention to give the water industry a quality event befitting the status it deserves.
In addition to providing an ideal opportunity to entertain guests and network with colleagues in the industry, the Awards Presentation will give an insight into the high levels of professional development of which we should all be very proud".
The Awards Presentation will include an exciting audiovisual element, which will illustrate the work of all winners and commended entrants.
