Tetra Pak honoured for production in Singapore
Tetra Pak has received this year's MAXA winner award, for overall excellence in innovation, operations and sustainability, for operations at its Jurong packaging materials plant in Singapore
MAXA represents the highest level of recognition to outstanding Singapore-based operations that have achieved world-class manufacturing standards.
Tetra Pak Jurong was commended for its outstanding production system, which leverages the 'World Class Manufacturing' approach to ensure operational improvement and downtime minimisation.
Being one of the largest Tetra Pak packaging materials factories in the world, the Singapore plant also serves as an application development centre.
The Singapore factory is also a model for encouraging innovation throughout the company, implementing hundreds of new ideas contributed by its employees each year.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong presented the top 2007 MAXA to Tetra Pak.
Accepting on behalf of Tetra Pak, Alberto Tureikis, South and South East Asia Supply Chain Director of Tetra Pak Jurong, said: "We are greatly honoured to emerge as the overall MAXA winner amongst the top manufacturers in Singapore.
We at Tetra Pak believe in manufacturing excellence, and it's how we conduct our business locally as well as globally".
MAXA is organised by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) together with partners, McKinsey and Company and the Singapore-MIT Alliance, comprising the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the National University of Singapore and the Nanyang Technological University.
