Touch Technologies has launched its latest range of stainless steel IP65 keyboards into the UK and Ireland

The IP65 rated stainless steel keyboards have been specially developed for the POI market, internet cafes, hotels and other semi-supervised or unsupervised environments The new range offers the combined benefits of very light key activation, robust construction and quality data input making them the ideal choice for many applications

"We have introduced these keyboards to meet the growing need for high quality stainless steel keyboards at affordable prices", said Marco van der Linden, Managing Director of Touch Technologies: "Stainless steel keyboards are traditionally very expensive making them a less attractive option for many projects.

The launch of these keyboards will shake up the market and make stainless steel keyboards a more viable option for industries and applications where such keyboards have not traditionally been used".

This new range is also ideally suited to 'hostile' public service environments such as information and multimedia terminal applications including libraries, shops and internet kiosks.

Sealed to IP65 standard, a silicon membrane between the keycaps and the silicon switching elements prevents any ingress of liquid and dust also making the range ideal for outdoor applications.

All the keyboards come with a brushed stainless steel front plate and key caps which protect the internal electronics from vandalism and heavy impact.

For user familiarity and to ensure ease of integration, the new device is based on the popular standard kiosk keyboard layout and footprint.

The range is available as keyboard only, with a 38-mm stainless steel trackerball or touchpad.

The trackerball is sealed to IP65 standards when static and IP54 when in motion.

The touchpad is also sealed to IP65 standard.

For indoor applications an integrated 38mm stainless steel optical trackerball is also available.

The stainless steel keyboards deliver high levels of resistance against shock and vibration and have a service life of more than 10 millions operations per key.

The keyboards have USB connectivity as well as PS/2.

The keyboards can be semi or fully customised and even come in any colour if required.

A large range of language layouts are also available.
