UFB (Process Control Solutions) recently completed the supply of 150 bellows seal gate valves for installation in the steam system at the Sullom Voe Oil Terminal on Shetland Lerwick Engineering and Fabrication, contracted by BP to carry out the refurbishment of the system, placed its order for the Class 800 welded bonnet valves with UFB in June 2004

LEF was established in 1994 offering general engineering and fabrication services, and operates from its Greenhead base at Gremista.

Since 2002 LEF has held the contract, awarded by BP, to supply off-site fabrication and on-site welding services at the Sullom Voe Terminal.

Sullom Voe Oil Terminal was built between 1973 and 1982 involving the skills of almost 7000 construction workers and at the time was the biggest single construction site in Europe.

Still one of Europe's largest oil terminals Sullom Voe celebrated its 25th anniversary of operations last year and at its peak handled 1.4 million barrels of oil per day.

David Suckley of LEF stated: "Following the efficient way that UFB had handled several previous smaller orders we had no hesitation in awarding this much larger contract to them".

"They have consistently provided us with a high level of service and demonstrated their attention to detail and invaluable technical knowledge".

"UFB kept us regularly informed as to progress and despite our having to make several changes to the initial order they delivered all valves ahead of schedule".
