The UK Weighing Federation are hosting the 57th CECIP general assembly, which is being held between the 17 - 19th May 2007 at the Guoman Tower Hotel in the heart of London CECIP (Comite Europeen des Constructeurs d'Instruments de Pesage) is a Federation of national trade organizations representing the manufacturers of weighing instruments in Europe

It supports the harmonised regulation of weighing instruments throughout Europe in order to protect both the consumer and business.

The UKWF president Tony Mellor is clear on the importance of the work carried out by CECIP members and as he explains: "Although most people have probably never heard of CECIP, its remit covers regulatory weighing issues, which touch all of our everyday lives.

Membership of CECIP in fact extends beyond Europe to include Russia and the Ukraine.

The meeting gives delegates the opportunity to discuss both formally and informally pertinent regulatory issues in the field of legal metrology".

Speakers at the conference include Dennis Turner, Chief Economist for HSBC Bank, Jeff Llewellyn, Chief Executive of the NWML and last, but not least, Ms Zsuzsanna Dakai - Director General of Enterprise and Industry for the European Commission.

The meeting is rounded off with the conference dinner which takes place in the resplendent Cutlers Livery Hall in London.
