Ultrasonic Scientific Ltd has won the award for Best Research Group at the Laboratory News Industry Awards 2003 The awards, which honour excellence in UK science, award the Best Public and Private Laboratories, Best Research Group, Most Promising PHD Student, Best New Laboratory Start-up, Best Technician and Best Scientific Resource Website

Ultrasonic Scientific was selected from four finalists in the Best Research Group category, and the presentation ceremony took place at The Dorchester Hotel in London on 4th November 2003.

Ultrasonic Scientific, innovators in high-resolution ultrasonic spectroscopy for material analysis, won the prestigious accolade after demonstrating excellence under the following criteria: An advancement of science through its research achievements; Exceptional research backed up with good working practices and systems; Good team work and morale.

Dr Vitaly Buckin, the inventor of the HRUS technology was presented with the award from sponsor, Fisher Scientific.

On receiving the award, Breda O'Driscoll, managing director of Ultrasonic Scientific Ltd commented: "We are extremely proud to have been awarded the accolade of Best Research Group.

Having our achievements recognised by the cream of the industry makes all the hard work and dedication involved in developing the world's first high-resolution ultrasonic spectrometers for material analysis so worthwhile.".
