UFM Coolpoint flowmeters get totalising
capability
UFM has introduced a flow totalising capability on its Coolpoint vortex shedding flowmeters for cooling water, coolants and water/glycol mixtures in automated and robotic industrial processes
CoolPoint flowmeters are now available with a flow totaliser that increases their ability to measure, monitor and control the total amount of liquid used in a process The totaliser features a pulse output, reset button and six-digit LED that can display either Litres or gallons

Universal Flow Monitors offers totalisation as a special option on all CoolPoint pipe sizes.
The CoolPoint product line includes pipe sizes ranging from 1/4 inch to 4 inches, providing 4-20mA transmitter flow rates ranging from 0.4gallons/minute (1.5litre/min) to 600GPM (2271LPM).
CoolPoint flowmeters are non-mechanical meters that can measure and monitor recycled water and filtered coolant containing particles.
Unlike mechanical switches, the meters have no moving parts to stick or coat, eliminating potential for clogging by these particles.
Flow consistency is provided by the CoolPoint meter high accuracy and repeatability.
CoolPoint models in 1/2 inch through to 2 inch pipe sizes are available with +/-1 percent full-scale accuracy; +/-2 percent FS accuracy is standard on all models.
Flow repeatability of +/-0.25 percent of actual flow is standard on all models.
Flow turndown of 20:1 is a new option on 1/2 inch through to 2 inch pipe sizes, up from 10:1 turndown as standard.
Turndown is the ratio of the maximum to the minimum flow rate that a flowmeter can measure.
The increased turndown ratio improves user capability to detect, read and record low flows, an advantage in batching and in standardising on a single flowmeter model for multiple applications.
Field adjustability of flowmeter response time to 4-20mA transmitter flow rates is now offered on the 1/2 inch through to 2 inch models.
The user can adjust the meter response time from 0.9seconds up to 7.5seconds.
This adjustability enables the user to set the meter for a very fast response time, a necessity for signaling a robotic controller immediately in event of trouble, or a slower time that minimises the effects of flow fluctuation and enables a control system to respond to data based on flow averages.
Universal Flow Monitors, located in Hazel Park, Michigan, has manufactured flowmeters for a variety of industries for more than 20 years.
