Unitrak Powderflight report the installation of a carbon black discharging, conveying and weighing plant to an international manufacturer of cellular rubbers

Unitrak Powderflight report the installation of a carbon black discharging, conveying and weighing plant to an international manufacturer of cellular rubbers.

Big Bags of carbon black are loaded into the Bagstander Tower FIBC discharge system with discharge into a multipath Powderflight Aeromechanical conveyor.

This horizontal and vertical Powderflight conveyor transfers carbon black through the plant and feeds into a high level weigh hopper located above the mixer.

Manually selected weighments are accurately fed into the mixer, using loss in weight controls via a specially designed feedscrew.

These controls also allow for the replenishing of the weigh hopper via the Powderflight conveyor.

The plant offers dust tight operation with accurate control of variable weighments of product into the mixer.

Previously the carbon black was decanted from 25kg sacks and weighed into small quantities, away from the main process plant with resultant quality, environmental and logistics problems.

An additional benefit of using the Powderflight Aeromechanical conveyor is that if in the future, a revised layout or factory move was required, the conveyor could be modified at minimal cost to suit the new location.
