Vacon expands and takes on new workers
AC drive manufacturer Vacon is expanding its factory in Vaasa over the next two years, building a total of 12,000 square metres of new office and production space and taking on new workers

In 2008 it is planned to start work on expansions of some 5000m to the office premises and 6000m to production premises.
In addition Vacon has requested the city of Vaasa to reserve land for building further premises in Runsor during the next ten years," says Jari Koskinen, Vice President, Production at Vacon: "We are currently recruiting several dozen people to be directly employed by Vacon in production assembly at the Vaasa factory.
In addition we are also recruiting several people for product development and for managerial positions in production," says Tuula Hautamaki, Vice President, Human Resources at Vacon.
The expansions and recruitment currently underway will help strengthen the Vacon position in the market.

Vacon is reporting on its plans for expansion and recruitment at a seminar it is holding in Vaasa for representatives of the local media.
The main speaker is Professor Peter Lund from the Helsinki University of Technology.
He is speaking about aligning the need for energy efficiency with the requirements of the business community.
Professor Lund is one of the best-known authorities on the energy sector in Finland and is also in very high demand as a speaker at EU events.
Vacon was established in 1993 from a passion to create, develop and produce unique AC drives for demanding needs, globally.
The company operations are driven by a burning desire to serve customers as they look for ever more efficient, reliable and easy to use options to save energy and costs.
In 2006 Vacon had revenues of EUR 186.4 million.
