Moisture sensors cover extended range of
media
The Domino range of moisture-in-oil sensors available from Vector Instruments can now be configured to cover an extended range of oil media, as well as transformer oils
Originally designed to monitor the water content of transformer insulating oils, algorithms have now been developed which enable the equipment to be used with a much wider range of mineral, vegetable and silicone oils including proprietary branded oil products from several suppliers There is also the potential for applications with other liquids, which have varying solubility characteristics for water

RS unveils diffused photoelectric sensors
E3ZM-V stainless-steel diffused photoelectric sensors are now available from RS.
Knowing the relative saturation (RS) and the exact end-point criterion for any oil processing or filtering application can save many man-hours, materials and chemicals together with hazardous-waste disposal and analysis costs.
This is particularly applicable to utilities involved with power generation and distribution, but also has growing use for both lubrication and hydraulic oils together with general processing and laboratory testing applications in many industries.
The Domino product is an accurate, simple, robust and versatile instrument which provides instantaneous and continuous measurement of water content.

Measurements provided as display information include.
Water content as relative saturation in percentage terms.
Water content as concentration in parts per million (ppm or mg/Kg).
Temperature.
In addition the relative saturation (0 to 10%) and temperature can be displayed, indicating the actual water content in relation to the media solubility level at a given temperature.
Measurement accuracy is claimed to be the best in the industry at +/- 1% including non-linearity and repeatability.
The equipment comprises a stainless steel probe housing the moisture and temperature sensors, rated for operating temperatures up to 180C and pressures from vacuum to 290 psi.
The probe is connected by cable to a compact transmitter and display unit within a NEMA 4 (IP65) housing, suitable for external mounting into any valve that is 1/2 inch NPT or larger.
Power supply can be 24Vdc or 115/230Vac, with two analogue outputs default set to 4 to 20mA.
An RS232C connection is also provided to facilitate changing algorithms for different fluid applications and requirements.
The Domino equipment can be supplied suitable for permanent or temporary mounting, complete with various length cable connections.
A portable sampler version also available is ideal for use by field service personnel.
