SIL 2 Radar tank gauging from Vega

For IEC 61508 and 61511 level applications or just those needing extra safety, Vegapuls radar level transmitters can now offer SIL 2 conformance

For IEC 61508 and 61511 level applications or just those needing extra safety, Vegapuls radar level transmitters can now offer SIL 2 conformance Their "proven in service" reliability figures have established a high level of integrity, resulting in revalidation/test intervals as long as 3.5 years, when based upon average reliability (PFD) figures

With a Vegapuls radar gauge, this means higher safety margins and reliability values providing a much lower cost of ownership for testing and validation and more functionality as part of a SIL rated safety system.

All Vega products have a 3 year warranty to further underline their outstanding performance and low lifetime costs.

As part of a SIL 2 system, Vegapuls is not just a switch or trip, it can be used for high level or low level detection as well as continuous and contents gauging for vessels too.

For higher risk applications, Vega can now provide a solution which does not mean you need two independent overfill protection devices separate from a continuous measurement.

For example, when a Vega radar is used in conjunction with a Vegaswing level switch (also with SIL2 conformity) for dual redundancy purposes, it can achieve a SIL 3 rating as part of a system.

Due to these features being available on standard configurations, SIL conformance can be retrospectively applied for some instruments.
