Measuring tide height from the Humber bridge
The Vegapuls 68 has been installed on the Humber Bridge, since it avoids the problems of the stilling tubes often needed by ultrasonic sensors, is light weight and has a very narrow beam.
The Vegapuls 68 is a new innovation, yet founded on already proven principles on over 70,000 applications world-wide.
"This is a natural development for us.
By optimising the performance of non-contact radar for solids measurement applications and extending the measurement range, it widens our offering of level solutions and complements our guided microwave products," says Peter Devine, Technical Manager for Vega UK.
"Puls 68 benefits from the very latest application based software which is designed with the user in mind".
Puls 68 is a non-contact device making it ideal for solids measurement with a range of 70m+, it has options for 2 wire loop powered, HART, Profibus and Foundation Fieldbus protocols.
Additionally Puls 68 is part of the plics system, so the users needs are built in, it features integral echo, datalogging and trend display, it shares the design, operating and build with all other instruments in the Vega range, making it easy to use and understand.
It is also designed with the application in mind, a small antenna size and narrow beam angle, an integral aiming swivel and flange to allow for positioning and angles of repose.
New microwave components now enable the sensor to evaluate reflection signals, which are smaller by a factor of 100 compared to other radar sensors, it also has a high power signal to easily handle long ranges, dust, air movement and fine particle sizes common in solids applications.
With a high temperature specification of 200C at the flange and higher with air cooled/cleaned options, it can be used for almost all applications in solids handling. Request a free brochure from Vega Controls UK ...
