Join Vega and make a splash at Thorpe Park!

A Vega Controls UK product story

Most level instruments Vega supply are used in factories and processing plants, working reliably, out of sight: those in the water at Thorpe Park are more obvious, but still give a reliable splash!

Most level instruments Vega supply are used in factories and processing plants, working reliably, out of sight.

However, sometimes they are applied in much more high profile ways! The Thorpe Park "Loggers Leap" is one of it's best known attractions and still has the tallest drop in the UK for a water flume ride.

It was made famous by pictures of a 'soaked' Princess Diana and her sons, who regularly visited Thorpe Park.

On this ride it is important to get the splash just right! This involves careful engineering and control on the ride, the water level needs maintaining at a particular level; too low - not enough splash and deceleration, too high - the ride stops a little too fast and there is a bit too much water.

In either of these situations if the ride is unsafe it would be closed.

Vega hydrostatic sensors 'VegaBar' have been in operation on this important application since the park opened in 1990.

They are rigid stainless steel, top mounted hydrostatic pressure devices which monitor the water level of the ride and pumps which replenish and circulate the water at a rate of up to 60 m3 per second.

The units work accurately over a span of only 3inches/75mm, making sure guests at Thorpe Park enjoy every moment of their ride.

Now you can try it for yourself this summer! Vega, Processingtalk and Thorpe Park are offering a family of 4 an entrance ticket plus overnight family accommodation in a free prize draw.

To enter, simply fill in a "contact" form on the Vega website and put "Thorpe and Processingtalk" in the message at the bottom, PLUS the name of the Vega sensors used in this application, or call Vega UK now and ask for Juliette Regen, to give her your details and answer.

The prize draw is on the 1st August, the winner will be notified ASAP, so his family can plan to enjoy the day out this Summer!.
