Pharmaceutical grade water at 10,000 l/h

A Veolia Water Solutions and Technologies product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Jan 10, 2008

Veolia Water Solutions and Technologies (VWS) has launched a new generation of its award-winning Orion pharmaceutical water package, producing up to 10,000 l/h of pharmaceutical grade water

Orion can meet the water quality standards of USP30 and Ph Eur Purified Water and Ph Eur Highly Purified Water, is fully compliant with FDA, cGMP and GAMP requirements.

The new Orion has an enhanced reverse osmosis module which gives improved recovery of up to 90% for single pass systems and 75% for twin pass.

This means lower operating costs and a reduced carbon footprint.

Like the previous generation, the new Orion is fully hot water sanitisable - the safest and most secure means of sanitisation.

Responding to customer demands, VWS has extended the Orion range up to 10,000 l/h.

The Orion range is modular, but modular with a difference.

The heart of the Orion is the reverse osmosis module and integral tank, with options to meet every requirement.

Pre-treatment by hot or cold sanitisable Carbosoft softeners is available for hard water areas, twin pass reverse osmosis for high salinity (>1000mg/l) and membrane degassing for high carbon dioxide (>20mg/l).

Alternative post-treatment options include continuous electrodeionisation for Purified Water, UV disinfection, microfiltration and ultrafiltration to meet the endotoxin standard for Ph Eur Highly Purified Water.

An improved control system includes not only the Orion unit but also the pre-treatment, storage and distribution systems.

It automatically optimises the operation of the reverse osmosis module and with a choice of start/stop or continuous operation.

The control PLC interfaces with most SCADA systems and a 21 CFR part II compliant option is available.

Users can purchase Orion outright or take advantage of the VWS "All-in-Pack" rental agreement.

The Customer simply pays a fixed quarterly payment by direct debit and VWS provides the water treatment plant and services it.

All-in-Pack gives VWS customers the ability to adopt the right technical solution without capital budget constraints, and with the security of knowing that the plant will be properly maintained by a team of fully trained technicians.

So, modular but flexible is the key feature for the new Orion, and it means that you no longer have to compromise on technical or commercial aspects of your water treatment system.
