Gentle pump solves many problems.
A Verderflex pump with a gentle pumping action has solved a sludge removal problem for a TV manufacturer. It also manages to empty two other waste slurry tanks in its spare time.

Their Simonstones, Lancashire site produces highly polished, glass television screens.
To achieve the required finish, the screens are treated at high pressure with an abrasive slurry.
The fluid is then transferred to a conical tank where the solid particles are allowed to sink and form a sludge layer in the base of the cone.
The liquid is then siphoned off and re-used in the polishing process.
Previously an air diaphragm pump was used to draw off the sludge for disposal.
However, this pump would often generate a rat hole in the sludge layer, pulling the re-usable liquid above into the waste line.
Thanks to its gentle pumping action, the new Verderflex pump has eliminated this problem.
Demonstrating its self-priming and suction lift capabilities, the new pump is also used to perform two other duties.
From its fixed position it can empty four 60 cubic metre slurry pits containing a thick sludge, plus another intermediate collection tank for the waste polishing fluid.
The tanker that was previously brought in to perform these two tasks is no longer needed, simplifying the process and saving on costs.
The new pump was assembled, tested and delivered within five working days and LG Philips Displays have encountered no problems in its operation.
