Pump hose for strong acids and alkalis.
A new hose material gives improved resistance to strong acids and oxidising agents for Verderflex peristaltic pumps, improving life by factor of four on sodium hypochlorite.
Hypalon (chlorosulfonated polyethylene monomer) has recently been added to the range of Verderflex hose materials For applications where standard EPDM hoses have experienced reduced lifetimes when transferring strong acids and oxidising agents, Hypalon is an attractive alternative, offering increased service life and reduced downtime

Gentle pump solves many problems.
A Verderflex pump with a gentle pumping action has solved a sludge removal problem for a TV manufacturer. It also manages to empty two other waste slurry tanks in its spare time.
The new hose was recently tested in a Verderflex VF10 pump dosing a 16% Sodium Hypochlorite solution (NaOCl).
This pump was only in operation for one hour in every seven, but the solution remained within the hose between pumping cycles, exposing it to continuous chemical attack from this aggressive alkali solution.
The previously fitted EPDM hoses had to be replaced after approximately 250 hours exposure to the liquid.
By contrast the new Hypalon hose has delivered over 1000 hours of service between replacements, dramatically reducing both downtime and maintenance.
