Viola Systems forges strategic partnerships with Process and Machinery Automation in Jaipur and Protocol Automation in Bangalore, with the initial target of the rapidly growing power sector in India

A new Indian electricity policy has set ambitious goals to bring access to the electricity to all Indian households The emphasis is in rural electrification; 125,000 villages translating into over 25 million households

This demand is to be fully met by 2012.

The Viola Arctic IEC-104 Gateway, a product specified together with ABB, helps power utilities save costs and improve distribution management.

Viola Systems, a leader in industrial-grade wireless M2M connectivity solutions, has today formally announced strategic partners for the Indian market.

"We proudly welcome our new, distinguished business partners in India: Process and Machinery Automation (PMAS) in Jaipur, North India and Protocol Automation in Bangalore, Central India.

PMAS and Protocol Automation both have unique expertise across various industry verticals.

More importantly, both are actively involved in various modernisation projects in the utility sector," says Rajiv Oberoi, Country Manager for India at Viola Systems.

"Viola enters India at the right time with a unique set of products.

For utilities, especially, the Viola Arctic IEC-104 and Modbus Gateways look very interesting," begins Sachin Bhargava, CEO of PMAS.

He explains: "India is now developing a countrywide network for vital infrastructure, like telecom, power and highways.

Viola products offer unique possibilities for our customers to access real-time information in remote previously inaccessible field devices through a field-proven, reliable and always-on communication solution".

He stresses, that for Indian conditions it is important that the Viola M2M Solution is operator-independent, that means it allows the end-customer to choose the best and cheapest telecom provider in a particular area by eliminating the need to obtain costly private Access Point Name (APN) from a mobile operator.

Private APN is usually needed in order to arrange fixed, static IP addresses for field devices but the Viola M2M Solution can do this without the private APN.

Mihir Gangoly, CEO of Protocol Automation, is optimistic of the new partnership and describes: "This partnership with Viola allows us to offer our customers field-proven, robust and secure wireless M2M connectivity solutions that are based on new wireless technologies such as GPRS / EDGE.

For our customers this means improved productivity and savings in maintenance and operation costs".

PMAS and Protocol Automation have set up a test system in their premises and welcome warmly interested companies to contact them for demonstration purposes.
