Walsall buys explosion-proof device manufacturer

Walsall has acquired 100 per cent of the shares in Smith and Prince.

Surrey-based Smith and Prince makes and supplies a range of explosion-protected electrical fittings, associated distribution equipment, cable assemblies and wiring harnesses and undertakes the manufacture and assembly of specialised equipment to customer specification and design requirements.

Smith and Prince makes industrial explosion-protected (Ex) lighting equipment certified by the Health and Safety Executive and BASEEFA for use in Zone 0, Zone 1 and Zone 2 potentially explosive atmospheres and other hostile or hazardous environments.

Smith and Prince safety lighting is of use in environments where flammable gases are present.

These include: aviation, oil, gas, petrochemical, marine, shipping, garage inspection pits and ramps, spray booths, fuel tank, drum and keg cleaning and inspection, aircraft hangers, pharmaceuticals, breweries, water treatment and many more.
