Dosing system uses peristaltic
pump-heads
Dosing systems supplier for agricultural and water treatment industries uses the Watson-Marlow Bredel peristaltic pump technology as an easy to apply core component of their "Select" dosing system
Redacre Ltd in Saffron Walden, is an OEM specialising in building dosing systems for agricultural and water treatment industries across the globe As a core component of their Select dosing system they have used Watson-Marlow Bredel peristaltic pump technology

The introduction of hose pumps to an apple pie mixing and food processing plant has made production faster and completely eliminated the need for seals, valves and manual handling of products
The Select dosing system is used in a variety of different applications, from vaccinating chickens and pigs by adding liquid products into the livestock drinking water in the UK, to adding nutrients such as nitrogen and potassium to irrigation systems for tomato growing industries in Taiwan.
At the core of the system, the unit relies on a Watson-Marlow peristaltic pump-head to provide a dosing solution that is easy to use.
This enables anyone, from water technicians through to farmers and members of the rural community, to easily change the pump tubes as required by the dosing system.

When developing the system, Redacre identified that it would require a pump that could stand up to the forces of the agricultural environment and to aggressive substances.
By using a Watson-Marlow 102R peristaltic pump-head, the fluid never comes into direct contact within the pump itself.
As a result, when using aggressive substances such as acids and chlorine, the pump does not suffer from corrosion damage.
Additionally, unlike conventional pumps, the 102R pump-head will not contaminate the chemical being added to the water flow - this is particularly important in vaccination processes.
To benefit from the wide range of dosing ratios offered by the system, individuals are required to change the pump tube.
This resulted in the need to have a peristaltic pump that would be able to perform its normal functions whilst being durable and easy to use.
Dealing with dosing rates ranging from 1:25,000 to 1:14, also made the ability to handle small amounts of fluid very accurately an important consideration.
David Welch, Managing Director of Redacre, comments: "When our technical team first embarked on designing the Select dosing system, they identified that it was essential to find a peristaltic pump that would be easy to use, could stand up to the agricultural environment and would be available at competitive prices.
After investigating various options, we realised that Watson-Marlow Bredel pumps were the only products on the market that would meet these specifications".
He continued, "the technical support that Watson-Marlow Bredel gave in the new product development stage was also an added bonus.
They visited our site on numerous occasions to lend technical expertise".
The 102R is a twin sprung roller pump-head originally designed for applications in biotechnology, for low flow rates and single channel functions.
It can be supplied as a stand alone OEM pump-head or as a faceplate mounted pump-head with a variety of synchronous or 12V DC motors to provide up to 105ml/min.
The stand alone pump-head measures only 80mm x 63mm x 32mm and can easily be fitted into most customer equipment housings. Request a free brochure from Watson-Marlow Bredel Pumps ...
