Pumpheads in chemical warfare detection
equipment
Smiths Detection has spent the last three years working with INSYS to develop a technologically advanced Integrated Biological Detection System: key components are Watson-Marlow Bredel OEM pumpheads
Smiths Detection, a leading player in the creation of advanced detection and security systems, has spent the last three years working with INSYS Limited to develop a technologically advanced Integrated Biological Detection System (IBDS) The INSYS IBDS is a vehicle-mounted laboratory environment that houses a Smiths bio detection system used to detect biological and chemical particles in the atmosphere, and features Watson-Marlow Bredel OEM pumpheads

Peristaltic pumps simplify moving apple pie mix
The introduction of hose pumps to an apple pie mixing and food processing plant has made production faster and completely eliminated the need for seals, valves and manual handling of products
The biodetection equipment is reliant on pumpheads that can handle very small amounts of fluid within a wide range of flow rates to distribute the liquid sample to the detection units within the IBDS vehicle.
When researching a suitable pumphead for the application, Smiths Detection found that the only product that met these demands was the Watson-Marlow Bredel 308MC microcassette pumphead.
By using multi-channel flows of the 308MC microcassette pumpheads, which are ideally suited to the movement of very small amounts of fluid, the detection system can split fluids and meter them to different devices simultaneously.
The biodetection system containing the pumps and detection equipment is fitted inside a sealed cabinet, which is attached to a specially designed military vehicle.
The vehicle can be driven anywhere for air sample analysis.
Colin Fewster from Smiths Detection states why Watson-Marlow pumpheads are essential for chemical warfare detection.
"Having a pump that can manage small amounts of fluid, and have the capability to channel the liquid accurately around the bio detection system to different biological testing units, is essential for the entire operation." The 308MC microcassette pumpheads are part of a wide range of single and multi-channel OEM pumps which are available from Watson-Marlow Bredel.
The pumps are found in an array of applications from beverage vending to water analysis equipment. Request a free brochure from Watson-Marlow Bredel Pumps ...
