Peristaltic pump framework agreement with YWS

A Watson-Marlow Bredel Pumps product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Apr 10, 2008

Watson-Marlow Bredel has won a five year framework agreement (with a two year option) for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of peristaltic pumps to Yorkshire Water Services (YWS)

The framework agreement relates to the Yorkshire Water use of the Watson-Marlow Bredel SPX range of hose pumps for the handling of primary, secondary, digested and thickened sludge.

Watson-Marlow has been selected on the basis of its ability to meet the stringent supply chain demands of YWS and its Contract Partners including: technical competence; excellent levels of service; plus its commitment to the continuous improvement of its products and services throughout the life of the agreement.

According to the Watson-Marlow Bredel Water Industry Specialist, Philip Bolton: "This agreement further strengthens the long-standing relationship between our two companies.

Watson-Marlow and its associated companies have been supplying Yorkshire Water for over 26 years.

During that time, a total of 180 pumps have been purchased by YWS for both chemical dosing and sludge treatment applications".

The success of Watson-Marlow SPX hose pumps on abrasive sewage sludge pumping, and other similar applications, stems from a combination of the gentle peristaltic pumping action, low operating speeds, and the abrasion resistant characteristics of the hose itself.

The composite, braided nylon reinforced hose element of the pump is designed to handle sewage sludge as well as other viscous, fibrous and abrasive materials.

The SPX design allows rapid hose changing when required, as well as simple maintenance.

The pumps also feature overload protection, and enhanced corrosion resistance.

The ability to achieve and maintain accuracy to within +/-1% and to handle additives such as lime slurry and easily damaged filamentous flocculants, has led to the widespread adoption of the pump for dosing duties in sewage and water treatment processes.
